Borderline Personality Disorder Myth: People suffering from it actually don’t want to die when they attempt suicide.

It depends on the severity of the disorder, but research shows that 8-11% of those diagnosed with BPD die by suicide. They live their lives in agony, and they usually desire to escape the pain of life. They think they can achieve this by suicide; other times, they opt for temporary relief by acting out displayed in certain behaviors like cutting, burning, shoplifting, and substance abuse, among others.
