Many people trivialize depression (albeit unintentionally) by blurting out a platitude on a person suffering from depression as if that is the one thing they badly need to hear. Here are some things you might not want to drop:

“Have you gotten tired yet of all this me-me-me stuff?”

“It’s all in your mind.”

“Why don’t you just grow up?”

“Well at least it’s not that bad.”

“Cheer up!”
