Q: Will “talking things out” help treat depression?

Talking does help in treating depression, but research continues to show that a combination of psychotherapy (talk therapy) and antidepressant medication is still the most effective treatment of depression. Sometimes, well-supported psychotherapies, like cognitive behavioral therapy or interpersonal therapy can significantly relieve the symptoms of depression. Nevertheless, a medical doctor must supervise all treatment courses.
